About Dr. Md. Abdul Koddus (Jahid), Physiotherapist
Dr. Md. Abdul Koddus (Jahid), is an eminent Physiotherapist and Rehabilitation Specialist, development worker, academician, trainer, and highly expert in project management who worked with national and international NGO’s mainly CDD, Practical Action Bangladesh and ActionAid Bangladesh since his professional career. He has a strong and sound knowledge with a proven track record in working with the vulnerable people of the community in the inclusion process, which includes persons with disabilities, older people, different groups of minorities, gender equality and equity, designing of training module and facilitation of training, coordination with the line depts., health and rehabilitation in the different national and international organizations through partnership. Beside his job in the development sector, he is also experienced on the areas of providing Evidence Based Physiotherapy services to the patients and having capacity to work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
Dr. Jahid graduated in Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy with Honors from Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (an academic institute of CRP) with full one (01) year clinical internship at CRP under Faculty of Medicine of University of Dhaka in 2006 and obtained M. Sc in Rehabilitation Science (an international Master’s scholarship program under the project of “Regional Inter-professional Master’s program in Rehabilitation Science” funded by SAARC Development Fund (SDF) from the same institute and university in 2018. He completed Post Graduate Diploma in Modern Orthopaedic Medicine- Cyriax Concept (Basic and Advanced) from European Teaching Group of Orthopaedic Medicine (ETGOM), Belgium, and Intra-Articular Infiltration and Soft Tissue Injection from Monroe Medical, UK and Academy of Physiotherapy, BD. He also completed a postgraduate certificate course in medical acupuncture from Indian Institute of Medical Acupuncture, India.
He has moreover 20 years professional experience in development sector, training and teaching sector in several subjects related to Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Orthopedics and Rheumatology, Professional Ethics, CBR, Disability Inclusion and Research Methodology. During his professional career, he managed and coordinated several development projects in urban and rural areas across the country, which includes disability inclusion, health and rehabilitation, capacity building, IGA support, CBO development, advocacy, nutrition (IYCF), etc.
At the Bela Health and Education Foundation (BHEF), he serves as a policy maker covering the position of Deputy Director, and a crucial member of the SMT, and since 2023, he has been serving as the Coordinator of MCPHS, and Head, Department of Physiotherapy of MCPHS and Bela Rehabilitation Hospital. In this role, he provides strategic and operational leadership to advance comprehensive rehabilitation and administration services in BRH and Josnar Alo School (a treatment school for the children with disabilities), professional education at MCPHS, and disability advocacy countrywide. Dr. Jahid upholds his leadership position in uplifting the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities throughout his professional career.
In his academic role as Assistant Professor at the Mymensingh College of Physiotherapy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of University of Dhaka, Dr. Jahid teaches undergraduate program in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech & Language Therapy uplifting the next generation in rehabilitation sectors. Dr. Jahid’s research focuses on health and rehabilitation, disability inclusion, CBR, and social outcomes.
He has more than 20 postgraduate and professional training and eight (08) publications in the peer reviewed journal as well as developed training manual and IEC materials prior to considering the disability inclusion and capacity building of persons with disabilities and adolescent & women health. He participated in several conferences, seminars and meetings at home and abroad. He is a general member of Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA). He loves to travel, indoor games, conduct free medical camp, meet with the rural people, reading and singing songs.

Ø Applied McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for treating back, neck and extremity injuries.
Ø Applied Cyriax Method of Orthopaedic Medicine to diagnose and provide non-operative treatment of soft tissue lesions which includes ligaments, tendons, bursa and muscles along with lesions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines.
Ø Applied infiltration and soft tissue injection for musculo-skeletal conditions.
Ø Manual and Electrotherapy, Mobilization techniques, Positioning, Massage therapy.
Ø Paediatric Care, Stroke patient management, Spinal Cord Injury, Neurology and Neuro-surgical rehabilitation.
Ø Competent in managing, planning, budgeting, reporting, monitoring, and coordinating of the projects’ activities by using log frame.
Ø Competent to conduct accessibility audit/assessment with report writing of different government and non-government facilities like private and public hospitals, educational institutes, public places i.e. footpath, WASH facilities, LGIs, flood resilient households, etc.
Ø Capable to identify the types of disability with appropriate need assessment of assistive devices, treatment for rehabilitation, Self Help Group (SHG) & DPO/CBO (Community Based Organization) formation and selection of appropriate IGAs to improve livelihood of persons with disabilities.
Ø Capable to promote the rights of persons with disabilities within the community according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities as well as Bangladesh country context.
Ø Competent to develop training module and materials, and facilitation of training on disability, health, nutrition and legal rights issues.
Ø Capable to develop relationships within the government line agencies & private agencies as well as other employers’ federations, associations and business chambers to create job opportunities for Youth with Disabilities.
